Review :

First of all, let’s talk about the cover. It’s so beautiful and magical. I loved the design because it’s very much in sync with the story. The plot appeared to me as unique and refreshing. I liked how smoothly the story flows and the impeccable narrative of the author. I loved reading each and every word for the richness of the literature.

Daisy, the lead protagonist has had a difficult childhood which shaped her up into someone who whines a lot, because most of the time she just cried. I wanted her to be a little stronger, but we can’t expect all of our protagonists to be perfect, can we? Daisy’s character is very true to the core. She’s just like any of us, leading a normal college life with a caring best friend in the form of the college stud Darren, until a hot and sexy genie knocks the air out of her lungs.

Khali is not your conventional genie with evil vindictiveness or cruel intentions. His love for Daisy is pure and selfless. I enjoyed the tension between the two, which eventually led to some really hot, and steamy moments. I loved how unexpected his every moves were, his sudden kisses and acts of love made me feel butterflies in my stomach. His character depicts that he’s the kind of person one can blindly rely upon and trust.

The vivid and mesmerising descriptions of the Djinn world almost swept me off my feet. The author’s imagination takes us to a land amidst ours, yet untouched and concealed.

Every thought and every moment was brought up alive in the reader’s mind. I laughed out loud  at some of the incidents which were really humorous and felt my knees go weak when Khalil showered his love over Daisy.

The story also briefly brings upon the cruelty of cancer and how it can ruin lives of not only the patients but also their near and dear ones, the author being a cancer survivor herself. I loved how she portrayed the feelings of the characters which felt so real and original.

There were sudden changes in tense when the narration briefly shifted from one character to the other. I’m sure the later editions will rectify them. Even though I immensely enjoyed the story, the ending was a little predictable. I recommend this book to the readers who are hardcore romance diggers or to those who ever loved the stories of the Arabian Nights. This genie would surely blow your mind.

I would rate the book 4 out of 5 stars. As a debut novel, the author has done a commendable job. And the exciting news is there’s going to be a sequel which I’m sure will be pact with more thrill along with some action (not saying any more for the sake of avoiding a spoiler!). I’m eagerly awaiting it.

I received a review copy from the author which did not bias my opinions in any way.

  1. The cover is amazing! If I saw this book at my local bookstore, I would’ve bought it without wondering what it’s about. I enjoyed reading your review, too. 🙂
