Review :

It’s been ages since I read a fantasy in the real sense from an author who’s Indian. Oh wait, I never read one actually? So when I picked this book up, I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised. Inkredia is a book that has all the elements required to capture the readers’ attention. Be it the cover, which is tantalising enough to keep you captured forever in a hypnotic trance, or the blurb which pulls you in, in such a tight grip that it’s difficult to shake off.

Now let’s talk about the plot. There’s a mystery surrounding the whole premise. Things are already difficult for Luwan, a boy who lives in Brida, to make ends meet. Yet when a book, his father’s secret possession comes to life, he is instructed to do nothing but leave Brida. There’s a map of Inkredia just on the backside of the front cover which is really cool! All the places and names have been mapped out perfectly for the reader’s convenience. Also, I would like to praise the author on being able to come up with such exotic names for the places and the characters.

I liked how Luwan’s struggle and fear has been brought to life with the use of beautiful description and detailings. There is an unknown enemy lurking in the dark, waiting to lash out on him any minute, and he can do nothing but run.

Mystical, deadly creatures, ferocious tension and a cutthroat narrative have all mixed and matched to come up with a tale that is quite awe-worthy!

Last but not the least, I would like to comment on the adorable sibling bond shared between Luwan and his sister Meg. It has touched my heart INKREDibly! 😉

I would give it a solid 4 out of 5 Stars. It could have earned full marks had there not been times when the story lagged a bit. Nonetheless though, I’m smitten by it and can’t wait for the sequel already!
